How is Easter Seals funded?

Easter Seals derives its operating funds in large part from local contributions made by individuals, organizations, and local businesses directly to the Center in support of its many programs, services, and facilities. Grants made by local, state, and national funding sources, including government and private foundation grants make up part of the Center's annual operating budget as well.

Fees and charges are assessed for Easter Seal programs and services. Importantly however, fees are based upon a family's ability to pay using a sliding fee scale and no one is denied Easter Seal services due to the inability to pay.

How can I help?

Without the generous support of thousands of caring individuals, organizations, and local businesses, Easter Seals programs, services, and facilities would simply not be possible. Easter Seals affords a broad array of opportunities to contribute time, talent, and treasure to furthering the Easter Seal mission. Volunteer opportunities include serving on a special event fund-raising committee like golf, tennis, volleyball, wine tasting, softball, or any number of other events which afford the opportunity to have fun and network with other community minded volunteers while making a significant contribution to the important work of Easter Seals.

Easter Seals Timber Pointe Outdoor Center located at Lake Bloomington is always looking for individuals or groups interested in an outdoor oriented service project. Cabin upgrades, trail maintenance, new construction, Teams Challenge Course facilitators, and other projects too numerous to mention afford the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Timber Pointe while making the dream of an enriching outdoor experience possible for hundreds of children and adults with disabilities each year.

The needs of children and adults with disabilities and their families are both important and at times urgent. Easter Seals maintains a list of current needs. This may include urgent needs for summer counselors at camp, in-kind gifts of equipment or supplies, or an appeal for financial gifts to meet a special need.

What if I'm not sure about my child's development?

If your child is birth to three years of age, you should contact the local Child and Family Connections Office at 309/672-6360. They will assist you in obtaining an evaluation of your child*s development. You could also discuss your concerns with your pediatrician who may make a referral to the Child and Family Connections Office or directly to Easter Seals depending on the needs of your child.
